March Member Spotlight: Shamus Brannan
Tell us a little about yourself and what got you on the path to CrossFit…
I’m a natural athlete. I don’t care for organized sports and couldn’t tell you two players on any team. I used to work out in my friend's basement. At some point I stopped, tried big box gyms and never liked it, then maybe 10 or so years later my darling wife convinced me to give crossfit a try and here we are.
What keeps you coming back each day?
You mean besides my wife? The community. I’ve met so many amazing people and made such great friends over the years. Also, I always have a better day when I get a workout in.
What is your favorite at-home exercise to do?
I have a hard time working out at home so running I guess.
If you had to do 100 reps of one movement (not running), what would it be?
Abmat sit ups.

Favorite Charleston Restaurant?
I haven’t lived here very long so I guess I’ll say Barsa. Only went once but had a great time. I’m currently accepting recommendations.
If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?
Motorcycle racer at the Isle of Man TT
What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?
Don’t be so shy.
If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?
One thing about me people would be surprised to know?
I used to make living as a stained glass artist
If the CFJI coaches came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare?
Grilled hot wings, eggplant parmesan, sauteed broccolini, garlic bread and key lime pie for dessert.
