December Member Spotlight: Elizabeth Meelan

Tell us a little about yourself and what got you on the path to CrossFit…

A little about me…I grew up right here on James Island, married my high school sweetheart, have 4 boys, have enough pets to open a zoo, and we have been moving up and down the east coast for the last decade with the military. I am so grateful that we are lucky enough to be stationed in our hometown and hope to stay for a while.

Growing up my dad and I always shared a love of sports and being active. I played soccer until I started having kids. He came to every single one of my games. We even ended up playing together (different teams) for the city adult league during college. We have trained for and run the Cooper River Bridge run numerous times over the years. One day he asked me to join him for a CrossFit class and I have been going ever since. I have joined a CrossFit gym in every city we have lived in and have made life long friends along the way!

What keeps you coming back each day?

I like that most workouts are very challenging for me but I show up and do my best and sometimes surprise myself.

What is your favorite at-home exercise to do?

Cycling

If you had to do 100 reps of one movement (not running), what would it be?

Squat

What are 1-2 of your goals for 2022? Have you accomplished any of these?

Let it go! It’s a work in progress. I am doing much better though!

Favorite lift?

Deadlift

Least favorite Crossfit movement?

Thruster

Hometown?

Charleston, SC

Favorite Charleston Restaurant?

Butcher and Bee

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

Zoo keeper.

What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?

Don’t worry about the future. Enjoy the present.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

Dolly Parton! I don’t know much about her but she seems like a fun, kind, and interesting person.

One thing about me people would be surprised to know? Hmm…I don’t know. I believe in ghosts. 😅 I don’t like dolphins. I buy expensive plants and murder them with my not so green thumb.

If the CFJI coaches came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare? Tacos!

Give us a “Question of the Day” to use in class.

Do you collect anything/have a collection?
