April Member Spotlight: Amy Fnine

Tell us a little about yourself and what got you on the path to CrossFit…

Junior year of high school I went to visit my sister in college and went to a CrossFit class with her. I thought it was a lot of fun and knew that it was something I would eventually revisit once my year-round basketball and soccer days were over. I officially joined my first crossfit gym at home in MA the summer after my freshman year of college (2015), and immediately loved the way it made me feel. I’m beyond grateful that my sister led me to CrossFit, as this sport has provided me with the confidence and resilience that propels me in all aspects of my life.

What keeps you coming back each day?

  1. My 9am, 4:30pm, and occasionally 7am pals (Brian Tavares ranking #1 among those pals).

  2. My drive to grow as a whole entire person and to watch and encourage those around me do the same.

  3. The hope of one day securing member spotlight (✅)

What is your favorite at-home exercise to do?

My favorite at home exercise is gliding on my longboard that is being pulled by my dog who is chasing Ross, as he sprints in front of her holding a treat. Total lung burner for me.

If you had to do 100 reps of one movement (not running), what would it be?

Hang power cleans

What are 1-2 of your goals for 2022? Have you accomplished any of these?

I’m hoping that 2022 will be the long-awaited year of the 200# clean! I also have a goal to put my exercise science degree to use.

Hard to choose just one! Thrusters, running, and wall walks

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

STOP STRAIGHTENING YOUR HAIR.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

One thing about me people would be surprised to know?

I used to shred on the alto saxophone in jazz band 5th-8th grade. My parents have footage of my improv solo for those of you who are interested.

The steak and veggie quesadilla of your dreams

Give us a “Question of the Day” to use in class.
