November Member Spotlight: Colt Grunsky

Tell us a little about yourself and what got you on the path to CrossFit…

I was overweight and out of shape so my New Year's resolution in 2018 was to change that. I tried Crossfit and fell in love instantly. I lost 50 pounds in 6 months and I was hooked.

What keeps you coming back each day?

I find working out to be a huge stress release and I look forward to it everyday. I’m also very competitive and strive to get stronger everytime I workout.

What is your favorite at-home exercise to do?

We have a peloton at home that I regularly use on off Crossfit days. Mostly for recovery but those workouts are tough.

If you had to do 100 reps of one movement (not running), what would it be?

This is tough. 100 is a lot of reps. I enjoy and am pretty good at toes-to-bar.

What are 1-2 of your goals for 2020? Have you accomplished any of these yet?

Muscle ups and handstand pushups. I’ve accomplished single ring muscle ups and am still working on handstand pushups.

Clean and Jerk

Least favorite Crossfit movement?

Bulgarian split squat. Those things are the worst.

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

Surgeon

What would you most like to tell yourself at age 13?

Cut your hair, girls don’t like long hair. Listen to your parents.

If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would you meet?

Beyonce. She’s my celebrity crush

One thing about me people would be surprised to know?

I’m a Clemson fan… LOL jk.. My entire family including my grandad went to USC and I grew up a USC fan BUT it was too close to home so I went to Clemson instead. I also converted my brother..

If the CFJI coaches came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare?

Steak with mushroom cream sauce and veggies. I would also have loaded baked potatoes but not sure if that's in the coaches diet :)
