Since starting CrossFit in April you have lost over 40 pounds! What made you step in the doors at CFJI and start fresh?

I just got back from a cruise with family and I worked out with my aunt and cousin who have been doing CrossFit for years. They finally convinced me to just try it out and see if I like it. I wish I would’ve done it years ago.

What has been the most difficult part of CrossFit for you?

At first it was the fear of doing something new, doing something difficult and out of my comfort zone and now it’s all of the muscle soreness!

What has been the most enjoyable part?

There are so many things I enjoy about it! Getting to know the people and building new relationships. Also, seeing over time that I can do something new or adding more weight to a lift. It’s my one hour away from everything else! Also, I enjoyed being able to bring my girls this summer. I think it’s so important to show them positive and healthy changes and it meant a lot that they could be there.

How has your nutrition changed since joining?

I didn’t think we ate terribly before, but we have definitely made some major changes now. I am currently on my third round of Whole30. Tracking and making conscience food decisions are now just part of my day. I am more aware of how food affects my body and attitude.

Favorite encouraging words you’ve heard at CFJI...

Jenna smiled and nodded at me once after a lift and I thought my heart was going to explode. There were no words necessary!

Favorite lift.

Least favorite lift.

Anything else.

Number one thing you want to accomplish in the gym this year…

Let’s start small: a proper push up

What’s the most ridiculous fact you know?

If you could have any job in the world, what would it be?

Biggest pet peeve.

Slow drivers.

If you were to get rid of one state in the U.S., what would it be and why?

Missouri, where is it even at?

If the CFJI coaches came to your house for dinner, what would you prepare?

It would not be boiled brains and fungus for Kyle. Probably steak because you can never have enough protein, steamed mixed vegetables for the colors of the rainbow. And for dessert, a nice cold protein shake.

A penguin walks through that door right now wearing a sombrero. What does he say and why is he here?

“Hola!” Must be global warming.

Top thing on your bucket list…

RV trip to the national parks

What would you do with your 15 minutes of fame?

Give them to someone else.

After a hard workout, what is your favorite meal?

Lunch

One thing about me people would be surprised to know?

I played volleyball at Purdue University.
